Speed up your WordPress website

Tools to maximise the potential of your website.

4 simple steps to a faster WordPress website.

1. Use a caching plugin

WP Super Cache is our go to for website caching. Page caching allows you to serve a static cached version of each page without having to load the content dynamically which equal speed improvements as well as bandwidth savings.

2. Minify the code

Minifying your code means removing all the whitespace from it making it extremely difficult to read, but it will provide a speed boost. Minifying your HTML, CSS and JS can be straightforward and non-destructive. Using a tool like CodeKit is an easy win.

3. Optimise images

Images are often the most taxing on your site. ImageOptim is a lightweight Mac app – a great little tool for the job.

4. Remove unused plugins

WordPress plugins are a great way to incorporate new features into your site quickly but they can be bloated and cause performance issues. We mainly use Google PageSpeed Insights to monitor page speed performance.
